Plobal Apps is a leading mobile commerce platform powering native shopping apps for Shopify brands. They wanted to elevate the experience merchants could offer through their apps.

The platform already let brands launch native apps, but there were opportunities to improve usability, reduce friction, and smooth key shopping journeys. Serving numerous Shopify merchants across industries, every decision had to work for a diverse customer base: complex multi-screen journeys, high retention expectations, a broad feature set to present without overwhelm, and flows that had developed independently over time. Our role was to research behaviour, find UX bottlenecks, and redesign the critical experiences.

Project goals

Plobal wanted a strategic UX approach rooted in research and behavioural insight, not just an interface refresh, so we looked beyond individual screens to complete user journeys.

We began with a UX audit, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluation, and journey mapping to identify friction points and prioritise by user impact and feasibility. Every redesign decision supported one of four objectives: reduce friction, improve discoverability, increase engagement, and encourage conversion. We simplified the information architecture, redesigned product discovery and the checkout journey, and built a reusable design system for consistency and future scalability.

Result

The redesigned experiences delivered measurable improvements across key engagement metrics.

Following implementation, Plobal Apps observed an 82% reduction in user drop-off across the redesigned journeys and nearly double the user retention compared to the previous experience. The work also improved navigation clarity and task completion, lifted engagement across critical shopping flows, strengthened merchant confidence, and created a more scalable foundation for future product enhancements.
